Southern African Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) - 2014

Eight Computer Science students from the UFH CoE were part of the Southern African Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) delegates which was held on the 31st of August – 3rd of September 2014 at The Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The plenary sessions and presentations focused on the theme: "Ubiquitous Broadband - An Enabler to Transform Lives". Mr Sabelo Yalezo, Mr Mnoneleli Nogwina, Mr Zukile Ndyalivana and Mr Vusumuzi Moyo gave oral presentations based on their submitted full papers. Then, Mr Admire Musimwa, Mr Mpenduli Ntsizi, Mr Lindani Moyo and Mr Shadrek Mudziwepasi presented their work in progress on a poster session. Mr Ndyalivana also presented a poster based on His masters project titled "IsiXhoSum: Extractive Based Automatic Text Summarizer for IsiXhosa". "Mr Siyabulela Xuza’s life story and journey was the highlight of the conference", said Mr Musimwa, "He has demonstrated that the only root of failure is failing to try and not where one comes from" continued Mr Musimwa.
